Proteus - New Product Introduction

Project Summary

Proteus is Amazon's newest autonomous mobile robotic solution that will be implemented in the newest generation of fulfillment centers (+1000 units by 2023). I worked on the hardware research and development team as a technical program manager co-op for six months which saw me dive deep into my responsibilities. As a TPM, I was able to create engineering design timelines, collaborate with the engineering management/team to mitigate schedule slip, & manage push suppliers to achieve an on-time 26-unit alpha build including 500+ individual components. I worked closely with the operations team to develop a material flow to ensure when our components do hit our dock, they can get staged, and the correct functions ensue (Finance pays our suppliers, Inventory gets updated, & supply-chain/myself take the pressure off the suppliers).

Accomplishments

Technical Skills

Documentation

  • Oversaw the creation of design timelines & procurement processes for ALL 500+ components

    • Defined team workflow using RACI Matrix to ensure the efficiency of the development team

  • Assisted in the formatting of engineering team sprints ensuring upcoming deadlines are captured

    • Led meetings with engineers (+10) and suppliers (+10) to develop countermeasures for delayed components by pressuring suppliers to expedite fabrication or sourcing processes

  • Oversaw the execution, & resource allocation of system-level hardware testing by prioritizing test execution based on current product functionality, risk priority number (RPN), & availability of test rigs

  • Defined material staging & sub-assembly bring-up processes by developing inventory tracking tools in excel & oversaw the execution of this workflow by training 5+ operations team members on use
